Wood Easter Eggs with Custom Imprint
The Egg Roll itself took place Monday, April 6, on the South Lawn of the White House. It is a continuing tradition started in 1878 by President Rutherford B Hayes. The event includes an Easter egg hunt, egg roll, storytelling and live musical performances. The commemorative wood eggs are given to children and families as they leave the event. Sets of eggs in a nice gift box are also sold by the White House Historical Association. The number of wood eggs given out varies from year to year but typically approaches 100,000.
